For those interested in religions as cultural and social systems of communication, the BA Science of Religion will further an understanding of cultural, historical, sociological and socio-anthropological theories and methods related to religions (Systematic Study of Religion). This degree study programme also offers instruction about the history, forms of social organisations and philosophical world-views of the global mainstream religious traditions (History of Religion).
This field-specific instruction is complimented by a specialised focus on one religious tradition (empirical training). This focus will be further consolidated within the Master Programme, during which the student is introduced to the contemporary discipline-oriented debates regarding systematic questions of the Science of Religion and mentored to develop personal points of view and critically reflect upon them in discussion.
